Why I want to help cure cancer

After finishing my PhD in the Netherlands, I moved to Adelaide to join the Centre for Cancer Biology (UniSA) as a postdoctoral researcher. Every day, our team works towards a better understanding of blood cancers; from the genetic predisposition to the factors that drive cancer progression. In close collaboration with clinicians, our genetics research influences the clinical care that leukaemia patients and families receive. I'm aware of the research that is needed to understand the biology of cancer and the development of therapeutic options. By joining the SA Discovery tour in 2020 I want to contribute in raising more vital funds for cancer research, so treatment will be available for more cancer patients in the future.
