Why I want to help cure cancer

Everyone is affected by Cancer in some way.  I've lost close friends and family members.  However, I am encouraged by the fact that over the years, some types of cancers that were historically considered fatal are in some cases not considered life threatening anymore.  This sort of change only comes through research, and the research simply can't happen without funding provided by this sort of event.
