How to apply for a Tour de Cure grant

Tour de Cure has an annual grant round, applications opening in August 2024.

We fund grants for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment or cure of cancer, as well as projects to promote and increase cancer awareness and understanding in Australia.

How we assess your application

After submitting an expression of interest, your application will be reviewed by the Tour de Cure grants committee. If you proceed to the second round of review, you’ll complete a full grant application, with recommended projects submitted to the Tour de Cure board in late November. Successful applicants will be announced in mid-December, with funding issued in March the following year, either as a one-off payment or instalments.

We are committed to providing funding in an ethical, independent and transparent way, with ongoing proper project governance. As well as evaluation by our grants committee and board, we work with independent research and medical panels for the additional review of research applications when needed.

What we fund

Tour de Cure is cancer-agnostic, so we consider applications for all forms of cancer. Our funding goes towards research into diagnosis and treatment, as well as supporting clinical trials and projects to support cancer survivors.

But because every dollar we raise is hard-earned, we try to find the best projects and researchers to support. Our grant categories include:

  • Senior researches, with either a proven track record or significant potential

  • Mid-career scientists/researchers

  • Early career scientists/researchers

  • Postgraduate research students and PhD candidates

  • Support

  • Community

  • Local
